Last updated: 17 July 2025 at 14:56:58 UTC by Administrator
If you already have a domain name (like www.youralc.gov.uk
) and want it to point to your new JAMS website, here are the steps you’ll need to follow.
Where needed, your IT company or domain provider can help you with the necessary technical changes.
1. Check Your Website Content & Links
Before redirecting your domain, make sure your new JAMS website contains all the key pages and links from your current website.
Review your existing website and make a list of important pages (e.g. Home, About Us, Contact, Services).
Ensure the same URLs (web addresses) exist on your JAMS website where possible — this helps avoid broken links and protects your search engine rankings.
If pages have changed or been renamed, you may need to set up redirects within JAMS to send visitors and search engines to the correct pages.
If you’re unsure how to handle redirects or page matching, we’re happy to advise before the switchover.
2. Let Us Know in Advance When You’re Making the Change
Please inform Junari before you update your DNS settings.
We will arrange for one of our technical team to be available at the time of the switchover so we can:
Monitor the change in real time
Configure your SSL certificate
Check everything is working as expected
Once the DNS change has been made, please confirm with us straight away.
3. Update Your DNS Settings
Your domain name is controlled by DNS (Domain Name System) settings, typically managed by your IT company or domain provider (such as GoDaddy, 123 Reg, or Cloudflare).
To point your domain at your JAMS website, you’ll need to:
Change the A Record for your domain to point to the JAMS system IP address:
34.251.176.46. Do this for both www.myalc.gov.uk and myalc.gov.uk)This tells the internet that your website is now hosted on the JAMS system.
If you’re not confident making these changes, your IT company or domain provider should be able to assist.
Please let Junari know as soon as the above is done so that we can check everything has come over correctly on our side.
4. Test Your Website
After the switchover:
Visit your website and make sure all pages load correctly
Test your contact forms and any other important features
Ask colleagues or contacts to check it from their devices too
If you have any questions or would like help with any part of the process, please get in touch — we’re here to support you.
