Please read the whole article before attempting to use the search bar on your website.

The search functionality can be added to the website through the Website Editor as it is a Content Block.

To find it in the editor either scroll down to 'Dynamic Content' or type in Website Search in the content search.

You can place it in any part of your page that supports a block.

Once it is placed you can adjust the top and bottom margin.

DISCLAIMER:

WHILE IN EDIT MODE PLEASE MAKE SURE NOT TO TYPE INTO THE SEARCH BAR - AS THIS WILL BE SAVED.

IF THE SEARCH BAR IS ALREADY PLACED ON YOUR PAGE MAKE SURE IT IS EMPTY OR DOES NOT DISPLAY THE NO RESULTS FOUND MESSAGE BEFORE YOU ENTER THE EDIT MODE AS OTHERWISE YOUR RESULTS WILL BE SAVED.

DO NOT EDIT THE SEARCH RESULT ITSELF AS IT WILL BE SAVED ON THE PAGE.

IF THE SEARCH BAR IS MALFUNCTIONING RESET IT BY REMOVING IT AND ADDING IT BACK

As the search bar is dynamic the only text setting it accepts from the Style tab is layout of the Search... placeholder:

You can have it to the right, left or centered.

You can adjust the width, height or background.

The results of the search bar classify as links. To adjust how they are presented you can go to the Options tab of the editor and change the font settings or link settings:

As previously mentioned - do not save your site settings with the search bar content up if the message displayed is - No Results Found - as the message will stay on the page.

If you do save it - to fix the issue remove and add the search bar again.

If you press enter on the search bar you will be redirected to a search specific page. This page presents your query in the URL which means you can copy the link and share it with someone to share your query/results.

Functionality Summary:

The search engine takes the the query and live searches it through the following areas:

- Events (Titles, content & tags)

- Blog Posts(Titles, content & tags)

- Website Pages(Titles & content)

- Knowledgebase Articles(Titles, content & tags)

The search does detect and filter content that is only visible to signed in users and presents that content based on the users login status.
